Prosecutor sees Punxsutawney Phil pushing daisies for forecast fraud
Are Punxsutawney Phil's days numbered after an Ohio prosecutor indicted him and said he deserves the death penalty?
An Ohio prosecutor says Punxsutawney Phil should bWith tongue planted firmly in cheek, Michael Gmoser, the prosecuting attorney in Butler County, filed court papers this week indicting the world-famous groundhog for "misrepresentation of early spring" and announcing his intention to seek the death penalty.
"This is a ground-breaking indictment," Gmoser said Friday as he fielded phone calls from around the world about the light-hearted legal battle. "There's a lot of people who want a piece of him. I know because I'm getting recipes from around the country."
On Feb. 2, Phil forecast an early spring when he emerged from his Pennsylvania home and did not see his shadow. Six weeks later, Gmoser looked out his window to snow, high winds and frigid air.
"I said to someone, 'Phil let us down. I ought to indict the little rascal.' They said, 'Why don't you?' and I said, 'I think I will,'" the prosecutor said.
He said he had to seek the ultimate penalty because otherwise the indictment would have had no teeth.

"Phil right now is in jail, behind bars, serving a life sentence. Because of that, there's nothing left for Phil but the death penalty," Gmoser said.
He was laughing, but sadly, not everyone got the joke.
"Frankly, I have received a number of phone calls from people who think this is a serious story," he said. "It's a spoof. We do some real serious work regarding rape, murder and mayhem and it's something to lighten the spirits of folks around here."
Phil could not be reached for comment, but Jeffrey Lundy, vice president of the Punxsutawney Ground Hog Club, said there was no chance of extradition.
“He's going to have to go through 15 licensed hunters to get to Phil,” Lundy told Triblive.com.

A deadly bomb goes off in the Wartime Claims and Inquiries office in Vienna. Two people end up in the morgue, one man in Intensive Care. The incident brings art restorer Mario Delvecchio away from his work in Venice to investigate who is behind it. There, he resumes his activities as Gabriel Allon, master Israeli spy (first introduced in THE KILL ARTIST). He wants to find whoever is responsible for the attack as much as his mentor/master, Shamron, and the rest of his Mossad colleagues, especially when he realizesthat the man in the hospital is an old and dear friend.
Gabriel begins a careful scrutiny of the past, which sends ripples throughout central Europe --- indeed, across several continents. In the course of working to solve who is behind the bombing, he encounters an old man whose picture (at least) he knows he has seen before --- an old man who evokes terrible memories and whose past is linked to the Nazi death camps. It becomes Gabriel's mission to bring this man to justice, as much for personal reasons as to balance the scales for the murdered and maimed of the camps.
Despite Gabriel's near-impossible travel schedule and his encounters with a seemingly bottomless cast of characters, Daniel Silva's latest work reads quickly. The sheer number of characters (several with at least one alias) seemed cumbersome at times, but the pace remained lively. Even the flashback to the Nazi roundup of hundreds of thousands of Jews --- recounted through the testimony of one courageous woman who miraculously survived --- at first seemed to be a distracting side trip, but actually stepped up the story's flow.
Silva does not sugarcoat these horrible times in our world's history. The agony and inhumanity pulse on every page. It's a story that needs to be told so they are not forgotten. And now, with A DEATH IN VIENNA, the last in the Holocaust series, Silva has done just that, completing the circle he began in THE CONFESSOR and THE ENGLISH ASSASSIN. Taken together or as stand-alone novels, they are worthy additions to the libraries of thriller fans everywhere. (Très pénible à lire des livres sur l'Holocauste)

Gregory Charles aura un théâtre mobile pour son spectacle Vintage.
Gregory Charles a eu cette idée pour pouvoir se produire un peu partout, sans que les coûts soient exorbitants. C'est finalement une compagnie allemande qui s'occupera de la conception du Palas qui pourra accueillir 1000 personnes. Le spectacle interactif, qui présentera les meilleures chansons des 80 dernières années, est selon Gregory « le show de sa vie. C'est le spectacle que je rêve de faire depuis que je fais du spectacle. » Il est aussi un hommage à sa maman qui souffre d'Alzheimer: « Je me suis dit que ce n'est pas une fois que ma mère sera partie que je devais me lancer dans les affaires folles. Ma mère était toujours du genre à dire ? c'est quoi le pas de plus que tu pourrais faire pour réussir. ? Alors, on fait construire un théâtre spécialement pour ce spectacle-là. »
On est certain que le dernier projet de Gregory fonctionnera très bien. On a grandement besoin de visionnaires pour ouvrir de nouveaux horizons et Gregory Charles fait définitivement parti de ces personnes. Chapeau! www.cyperpresse.ca

C’est Benjamin Franklin, le 16 avril 1784, qui a évoqué pour la toute première fois dans le quotidien français Le Journal de Paris l’idée de décaler les horaires afin d’économiser des bouts de chandelles, en d’autres mots, de l’énergie. Il ne devait toutefois pas s’attendre à ce que plus de 200 ans plus tard une possible révolution contre le changement prenne forme au Québec.
Dans son essai1, il expliquait qu’en passant à l«’heure d’été» il était possible d’économiser énormément de chandelles et d’huile. Rappelons qu’à cette époque on s’éclairait à l’aide de chandelles et de lampes à l’huile.
Son article a peut-être été vu à l’origine comme une satire, et qui sait, l’expression «économiser des bouts de chandelle» vient peut-être de cette époque, allez savoir! P.S. Avancée ou normale je m'en fou mais qu'elle demeure stable tout au long de l'année....pas d'heure yoyo été/hiver
Mais à ce sujet, il y a des gens au Québec qui en ont marre, vraiment marre de faire de l’économie de bouts de chandelle. En effet, une résidente de Lévis, Valérie Harvey, a lancée une pétition le 28 février dernier pour faire cesser cette économie de bouts de chandelle.
