La Lune Rousse, ou Pink Moon

Mercredi 14 mai 2014 à 21 h 00 - Comme la plupart des pleines Lunes, celle qui brillera le 14 mai possède plus d’un nom. Selon qu’elle soit tirée d’une légende algonquine ou de l’Almanach du fermier, on l’appelle Lune des Fleurs, Lune de la Plantation du Maïs ou encore Lune Rousse.

Son nom de Lune des Fleurs lui vient simplement de la période de l’année où elle apparaît, qui correspond à la floraison abondante dans plusieurs régions.
Il existe par ailleurs une longue tradition d’agriculteurs qui croient que la Lune a un effet non négligeable sur les végétaux. Constitués majoritairement d’eau, ils seraient soumis selon eux à l’influence de la Lune, de la même manière que la marée des mers et des océans. Ainsi, les agriculteurs se sont dotés d’un calendrier indiquant comment jardiner avec la Lune. La pleine Lune de mai était donc un moment privilégié pour planter les grains de maïs.
La Lune Rousse 
La Lune Rousse, ou Pink Moon en anglais, se veut la période de lunaison après Pâques, qui s’étale de la nouvelle Lune d’avril à la nouvelle Lune de mai. Pendant cette période, les risques de gel au sol demeurent présents, ce qui peut être dévastateur pour les semences.
Selon le dicton, la Lune Rousse brûle les jeunes pousses. À tout moment de l’année, la lune peut être rougeâtre pendant lorsqu’elle est basse sur l’horizon. Dans le cas qui nous occupe, on attribue sa couleur rouge à la teinte que prennent les pousses de végétaux brûlées par le froid.
La croyance populaire voulait que la Lune soit la cause de ce gel. Plus tard, on découvrit que les nuits où la Lune est visible sont des nuits où le ciel est dégagé, ce qui permet à la chaleur de la Terre de s’échapper en l’absence de nuages. Les gelées nocturnes sont alors fréquentes.
Le dernier gel survient en moyenne le 28 avril à Montréal, le 8 mai à Québec et le 19 mai à Saguenay. C’est pourquoi il est conseillé d’attendre après la Lune Rousse pour sortir vos semis.

Depuis quelques années, la FédéCP exhorte le gouvernement de prévoir une exploitation accrue de cette espèce, dont les populations sont en croissance, particulièrement en Estrie, en Montérégie et en Outaouais. Les populations de dindons sont toutefois en augmentation dans toutes les régions où l’espèce est présente. Il s’agit donc d’une décision avisée, qui démontre l’importance pour le ministre de miser sur les activités de prélèvement faunique comme moteur économique régional.

Le dindon sauvage est une espèce de plus en plus prisée. La chasse n’a toutefois qu’un effet modéré sur la population puisqu’il s’agit d’un oiseau polygame et très prolifique. En effet, même en soustrayant des mâles d’un secteur, la croissance de la population peut aisément se maintenir.

Domaine de Vaux Le Vicomte. Le Domaine de Vaux Le Vicomte, en Seine-et-Marne (tout près de Paris), propose une chasse aux oeufs spectaculaires : 35 000 oeufs cachés attendent les visiteurs. Cette chasse est très bien planifiée : des départs sont prévus toutes les 40 minutes. Des espaces sont même réservés pour les enfants et pour les adultes. ( sympatico)

Encore un mois d’hiver au Québec

Selon le météorologue de renommée mondiale, Bernard S. Turgeon, un vortex polaire causera la prolongation de l’hiver québécois pendant encore un mois soit jusqu’aux premiers jours de mai.

Se produisant habituellement dans la haute et moyenne troposphère et dans la stratosphère, le vortex polaire, aussi appelé tourbillon, est causé par la rencontre de deux fronts de pression différente soit une zone de haute pression et un front froid de basse pression. Celui qui nous frappera arrivera en provenance de l’antarctique et persistera pendant au moins quatre semaines sur toutes les régions du Québec. Il entrainera des chutes de neige allant de 10 à 25 cm par jour ainsi que des températures radicalement sous les normales de saison, on parle même de -20 C pour plusieurs des journées à venir. Les bottes et manteaux d’hiver sont donc toujours de mise.

Les spécialistes médicaux consultés prédisent une hausse de prescription d’antidépresseurs dans la province occasionnée par la baisse de moral marqué chez la majorité des gens habitant le Québec, les compagnies de voyage s’attendent à une forte augmentation de la demande pour les vols à destination des pays du Sud et, de leur côté, les départements de natalité des hôpitaux prévoient un baby boom dans les dix prochains mois puisque les couples devront demeurer à l’intérieur pour les prochaines semaines.  

Cette augmentation de naissance aura d’autres conséquences fâcheuses puisqu’une pénurie de logement est à prévoir dans les villes de Montréal et les environs, Québec, Sherbrooke, Trois-Rivières et Saguenay.
