Vous êtes tannés du changement d’heure à l’automne et au printemps? Vous en avez marre de perdre une heure de sommeil? À partir d’aujourd’hui vous saurez qui est l’imbécile à blâmer: Benjamin Franklin.

C’est Benjamin Franklin, le 16 avril 1784, qui a évoqué pour la toute première fois dans le quotidien français Le Journal de Paris l’idée de décaler les horaires afin d’économiser des bouts de chandelles, en d’autres mots, de l’énergie. Il ne devait toutefois pas s’attendre à ce que plus de 200 ans plus tard une possible révolution contre le changement prenne forme au Québec.

Dans son essai1, il expliquait qu’en passant à l«’heure d’été» il était possible d’économiser énormément de chandelles et d’huile. Rappelons qu’à cette époque on s’éclairait à l’aide de chandelles et de lampes à l’huile.

Son article a peut-être été vu à l’origine comme une satire, et qui sait, l’expression «économiser des bouts de chandelle» vient peut-être de cette époque, allez savoir! P.S. Avancée ou normale je m'en fou mais qu'elle demeure stable tout au long de l'année....pas d'heure yoyo été/hiver

Mais à ce sujet, il y a des gens au Québec qui en ont marre, vraiment marre de faire de l’économie de bouts de chandelle. En effet, une résidente de Lévis, Valérie Harvey, a lancée une pétition le 28 février dernier pour faire cesser cette économie de bouts de chandelle.
